The Alabama Environmental Youth Council was founded in 2019 by May Jung who is from Prattville, Alabama.  She created this council due to her passion for helping people and the environment.  Her council has continued making impacts as it works to continuously inform the community of Alabama through activism and education.

With each successive year since, council leadership has been transferred to upcoming high school students each bringing their own unique passions and ambitions for environmental activism in their state of Alabama. For the 2023-2024 session, Julia Taylor and Olivia McDonald from Daphne, Alabama act as Co-Presidents.
